51 PREP RALLY: THE LIST | 8.21.2022 Joey Su'a is a commanding presence regardless of whether it's on the playing field or in the midst of a chaotic media day gathering. The 6-foot-5, 322-pound Bentonville Tiger offensive tackle has verbally committed to the University of Arkan- sas and plans to be a spring enrollee. But before he snaps on a red helmet, he has business to take care of wearing the black and gold headgear of the Tigers. Su'a will be a main cog as the Tigers look to make a deep playoff run and headlines the 11-member group who make up the 2022 version of The List. The List is the top 11 players in the 12-county coverage area of the North- west Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The 2022 version of The List features an abundance of talent on both the of- fensive and defensive sides of the ball. There are five quarterbacks on The List, two running backs, multi-position players and a standout linebacker who had more than 100 tackles last season. Shiloh Christian senior quarterback Eli Wisdom is a hold-over from last season's group after leading the Saints to a third-straight state championship game appearance last season. Wisdom enters his final season with 5,150 career passing and more than 2,000 rushing yards. Greenwood senior quarterback Hunter Houston joins The List after passing for 3,098 yards and leading the Bulldogs to the Class 6A state cham- pionship game as a junior, while Alma senior Joe Trusty and Charleston senior Brandon Scott are looking to lead their teams on deep playoff runs. Ozark senior Landon Wright is the fifth quarterback on The List, but Wright also spends time on defense as a safety. The Hillbilly leader ran for 1,003 yards and passed for 952 last season while also recording 34 tackles at safety. Bentonville senior running back Josh Ficklin and Elkins junior Da'Shawn Chairs each had breakout seasons last year. Ficklin ran for 1,529 yards and 23 touchdowns, and Chairs made a big impact with an identical 1,529 yards and 29 touchdowns. Van Buren senior Malachi Henry impacts the game wherever he lines up, whether at receiver, defensive back, special teams or even taking snaps. Henry, who will miss some games early in the season with a knee injury, will again rarely leave the field for the Pointers. Bentonville West two-way player Nick Bell has deep bloodlines as the son of former Razorback Geno Bell. The senior is a lock-down defender as a defensive back and a threat to take a punt or kickoff back for a score. Bell's teammate Braden Jones rounds out The List. The Wolverines senior recorded more than 100 tackles at linebacker and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. Jones is verbally committed to the University of Central Arkansas. — Chip Souza • @NWAChip Auto-Home-Life-Business Proudly Serving Bentonville with over 50 years of experience.
