THE SKINNY Lincoln made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history last fall. … The Wolves move up this year to play in Class 4A. … QB Drew Moore returns after gaining valuable experience as a sophomore, throwing for 1,853 yards and 13 touchdowns. … RB Kale Jones returns after earning all-conference honors as a freshman. … Jones had 375 yards and 7 touchdowns on 64 touches and broke out against Lavaca with a 176-yard and 2 touchdown performance. … Lincoln had its season end in the first round of the playoffs against Newport. … The 3-4 defense is led by depth at linebacker with Layne Sellers (all-state, 84 tackles), Keller Price (81 tackles) and Kale Jones (39 tackles, 3 interceptions). … Tsimtxhua Vang is a weapon as a kicker on special teams with his ability to get touchbacks and has a range of 45 yards on field goals. THE SKINNY Ozark shifts from the 4A-4 Conference to the 4A-1 this season and is selected as the preseason favorite to win it all in the coaches' poll. … QB Landon Wright returns after earning all-state honors completing 54 of 93 passes for 952 yards and 8 touchdowns. … Wright also rushed for 1,003 yards and 15 touchdowns on 117 carries despite missing time early last year with an injury. … RB Eli Masingale also returns from an all-state campaign. He battled injuries early in the season but managed to rush for 1,002 yards and 14 touchdowns on 97 touches. … Wright and Masingale play big roles on defense as well for Ozark. … The Hillbillies have won a conference championship in three of the past four seasons. … Ozark took down Huntsville 48-18 in a first-round playoff matchup but had its season end with a 44-20 loss to Crossett. … Hunter Collums and Reese Whitson are both coming off injuries and are expected to play this year and make an impact upfront on a line that graduated multiple starters. … Brayden Miner and Gavin Gilbreth, who each earned all-conference honors, return to be disruptive on defense. … Ozark started 1-2 last year but turned it on in conference play, winning six consecutive games after that by at least 16 points. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "There is some uncertainty entering a new conference. But we have a bit of an idea going into this. We won't quite know how teams will play us though. We are excited for new experiences. There will be some additional logistics with longer road trips, but we are excited for a new challenge. THE SKINNY Berryville bounced back from a zero-win 2020 season to win 2 games last year. … Team was very competitive and its win total could've easily been higher, losing two games by 7 total points. … Decimus Ruiz and Ethan Williams battled in the summer at quarterback. … Team will look to replace 13 graduating seniors from last year's team. … Coaches have loved the play and progress it has seen on the line with three sophomores making an impact early. … Team will use a running back by committee approach to find out who earns more carries. … Hutson enters his second season at the school. … Klae Smith (second in tackles) and Chet Hudgens (third in tackles) return to help lead the defense. THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "The kids are ahead where we were last year with knowledge with this being my second year here. They know the system now and it isn't brand new to them like it was last year. It's still tough to replace 13 graduating seniors. I thought we were competitive last year, but we didn't finish games.
