worked really hard and that is a testament
to what kind of football player he is. The
sky's the limit for him this season."
4A-4 Conference
The Lamar Warriors put together a
dream season, making the quarterfinals
of the playoffs for the first time ever in
Class 4A. After just missing out on a
conference championship with a loss
to Ozark, Lamar turned the page in the
postseason.
They put together back-to-back
one-point wins with a 21-20 victory
against Gentry in the first round then a
24-23 victory over Prairie Grove in the
second round. It's hard to put in words
how successful of a season it was for
the Warriors last year. To try to sum it
up, Lamar coach Josh Jones had to turn
to fictional blockbuster movies to even
attempt to describe it.
"Just like Doctor Strange said in the
Marvel movies, sometimes there are
millions of possibilities and just one
outcome where you win," Jones said.
"We found the one in a million last year
a couple times. What a season. We were
often behind at halftime or late in the
playoffs. They just had that never-give-
up attitude. They found ways to win. We
want to build on that now."
4A-7 Conference
Waldron, picked to finish sixth in
the coaches' poll, shifts to a brand new
conference and now hopes to make the
playoffs in its six-team league that will
require just one conference win.
Quarterback Matt Brigance is a
dual-threat to guide the offense with
linebacker Leo Lopez anchoring the
defense on the other side of the ball for
the Bulldogs.
