Sigma Phi Epsilon-Indiana Alpha Purdue University P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested From the Heart A PUBLICATION FOR ALUMNI OF INDIANA ALPHA t SIGMA PHI EPSILON T his is the moment we have been working toward for several years: We have signed an architectural contract with Scholer and Associates of Lafayette to formally design the new (but old!) home of Indiana Alpha! The women of Kappa Delta, our wonderful tenants for the last few years, are well underway on building a new home on Grant Street. They will vacate the house in May 2023, and we will start interior demolition and remodeling immediately. Larson- Danielson Construction, led by Tim Larson '77 and Terry Larson '80, will be the general contractor. They have generously donated their fees to the project. The renovations will be completed by summer 2024, in time for the brothers to start the 2024-25 school year in a state-of-the-art, beautiful new home. The house will basically be taken down to the bricks with every portion of the house redone. The cold-air dorm will be replaced by normal sleeping/ study rooms. There will be study lounges on each floor along with night kitchens and laundry areas on the upper floors. All the exterior windows will be replaced and exterior landscaping will be updated. One exciting item will be the addition of a large classroom area in the basement, which will seat 25 people. We envision campus-wide classes and seminars being held on a regular basis. Guest washrooms will be added just off the Great Hall so that guests will not have to utilize the brothers' washroom or the current women's room by the rear door. All new HVAC systems will be added as well as a fire sprinklers, fire alarms, electronic security, and an elevator. This has all been made possible by the incredibly generous donations of our alumni and the amazing fundraising efforts of Jim Mosch '80 and Norm Nabhan '71. Probably the most crucial item is the hard work of Mitch Salyers '93, our local chapter counselor, who has worked incredibly hard to help the undergraduates increase the membership to 26 young men! Keep an eye out for future editions of From the Heart for campaign and construction updates. Fraternally, David Andrews '79 Renovation Committee H omecoming is Saturday, September 24, at 7:30 p.m. against the Florida Atlantic Owls! Our annual AVC meeting will be held on Saturday, September 24, at 9 a.m. Look for us in PMU as usual with further details to be announced soon. Our annual alumni dinner will be held on Friday, September 23. We will send an email with specifics as we get closer to the event. CONSTRUCTING THE FUTURE The Work Begins Save the Dates
