Can the same be true of knitting? You bet it can! this class is for knitters, of any experi- ence level, who knit to fill time, create fabulous hand knit gifts, or who need to use yarn stashes before the moths eat them up. grab your favorite needles and three balls of worsted weight yarn and join Judith tavano, a consummate and innovative crafter, for a fun three- hour journey during which we will learn and perfect three new stitches. We will knit these stitches into squares that can then be used to make all kinds of things - blankets, pillow covers, stuffed animals, or fingerless gloves. the choice is yours. all you need to know is how to knit and purl. the rest we will do together. instruCtor: Judith tavano DAy/DAte: tuesday, 9/13/22 (1) time: 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM FormAt: in-Person LoCAtion: olli Cost: $19.00 olli Member $34.00 non-olli Member From A FALLing APPLe to CreAting CALCuLus: the reCLusiVe genius oF isAAC newton DesCriPtion: living in a time when there was no clear line between science and superstition, isaac newton was that rare per- son who could combine both theory and practical work. his insatiable curiosity, deep intuition, and ability to focus on a single subject for days on end led him to develop calculus, optics and the theory of gravity. he investigated Biblical prophecy and wrote roughly one million words on the study of al - chemy. on the other hand, he built the first practical reflecting telescope, administered Britain's great recoinage of 1696, and made the recommendations leading to the world gold standard that lasted into the twentieth century. scouring taverns and other haunts on his own, he successfully caught and pros - ecuted dozens of treasonous counterfeiters of the Crown's coin. newton wasn't always right: when the south sea financial bubble burst in 1720, he lost millions. this one session class will introduce the life of this extraordinary man brought to you by Ken allen. no knowledge of sci- ence or mathematics is needed - just a willingness to consider that one person could accomplish so much in one life- time! instruCtor: Ken allen DAy/DAte: Wednesday, 9/14/22 (1) time: 10:00 aM - 12:00 PM FormAt: in-Person LoCAtion: DraKe Cost: $25.00 olli Member $40.00 non-olli Member Lions AnD tigers AnD BeArs in tuLsA?
