In 1930, William Holt started Holt Oil Company downtown. The company operated gasoline outlets and later moved into the home heating oil business. William and his wife Hannah had three sons: William Holt Jr., Charles Holt and Henry Holt. Henry and Charlie successfully operated the business as partners for over 40 years, growing the outlets to 22 sites in four counties. Between 1987 and 1999, family members Louis Cox, Hannah Holt, Walter Holt and Bill Holt joined the business. Charles Cox (grandson of Charles Holt) joined the company in 2018. Together they are the driving force for growth into the future.
