20 August 2022 School supply giveaways Other organizations in Fayetteville and surrounding areas are trying to help with back-to-school benefits — including school- supply giveaways and free haircuts. ese are some of the events taking place in the community: Saved by the Bell Back to School Bash is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 13 at Hope Mills Park. It is hosted by the AAC Corp., a women-led community outreach organization that includes three local business owners. Angel McNair, Alyssa Sirmans and Chrishaun Nelson decided to give back to the community and hope to help 250 children this year with backpacks and supplies. e event will include the school-supply giveaway and feature a local children's author. Children who attend will also be able to get free hairstyles courtesy of Natural Genius. More information is on the Facebook page under AAC Corp. Army Community Services will host a Back-to-School Party in the Park for military families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 13 at Wilson Park, 3587 Butner Road on Fort Bragg. e organization will have backpacks with supplies, and there will be games. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6018 will host a school-supply giveaway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at 116 Chance St. for children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Not Your Ordinary Berries in Spring Lake will host its second annual Back 2 School Giveaway from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 20 at 1076 Lillington Highway. e event will have bounce houses, dance guests from e Dreamville Dancers, free haircuts for children, a Medicaid specialist to answer questions, vendors, food and special music. In Raeford, the Hoke County Parks & Recreation Department will host a Back 2 School Jam from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 20 with a rain date of Aug. 27. e event will include a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and a bookbag giveaway with supplies while they last. e event will be at 211 Park at 3195 Red Springs Road.
