"This process could uncover the need for more capacity in the school system or added expansion of our electrical or water services," Steve said. "It could include how we prepare and best serve new businesses wishing to locate along the new I49 interchanges within Gravette". The committee plans to put out an annual review that examines the vision against reality. "Right now, we don't know if the Gravette population will grow from it's current 4,000 residents to reach 5,500 or 6,000 people by 2030," Steve noted. "So, imagine it's now the year 2026 and the population has already reached that level. We would need to reset our expectations. Those kind of checkpoints are very important because if we had a goal that the city would only grow at a certain rate and it's growing faster than that, it could have implications for our zoning, our planning, and for how we want to attract, or not attract, new businesses." The process will be very fluid and organic, but essential for the city as it looks to the future. "In the absence of a vision, whatever happens will happen. We'll just get to someplace by 2030," Steve remarked. "But with a vision, we can start to guide our activities and our priorities and have more influence on the end outcome and meeting the goals that our citizens have for their community".
