The Ivy 3 The first of many Red Dress Galas! Sophomores Lindsey Turunen '21, Karina Prieto '21, Ava McDonnell '21, Ana Nojkova '21, and Sam Woodell '21 celebrate their first Red Dress Gala in March after joining Alpha Phi the previous fall. What a special night spent with our families and sisters by our sides, raising money for the best cause. Tailgating season with the roomies! A group of live-ins stand proud in green and white in front of the house ready to cheer the Spartans on to victory. Everyone can agree when we say getting ready for game day in the makeup room with all your sisters is one of our favorite in-house memories. Left: Dad's Day fun! Seniors Jessica Doelle '19 and Leah Grabill '19 with their dads at our annual Dad's Day in February. The day was filled with good food, indoor golf, and ended with a hockey game at Munn Ice Arena. We loved showing our dads around East Lansing for the day. Right: You can never have enough game day pictures! Seniors Rachel Allen '20, Cassidy Ivanko '19, Erin Apple '19, Chelsea Comar '19, and Gabby Peruski '19 enjoy football season in their matching outfits with their best friends and sisters by their side. Abroad is better with sisters by your side! Seniors Mallory Floyd '19, Lauren Orlando '19, and Tori Gardocki '19 are completing summer internships in London, England. On the weekends they travel to different countries to make lifelong memories together. This picture is taken from Edinburgh Castle in Scotland. Sisterhood at Cider Mill! Seniors Mika Hamady '19, Taleen Vartanian-Gibbs '19, and Hailey Hartwig '19 hold each other close during a sisterhood event in October at the local cider mill. The chapter enjoyed cider, donuts, hayrides, and (of course) taking pictures together. T his past year, Beta Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi has innovated and created an environment of growth while upholding our values as a chapter. Our newest department—Diversity, Equity and Inclusion—has held events and worked with other chapters' DEI representatives to generate ideas to incorporate these goals into our chapter's education. Although it is not easy to step into a new role, Julia Martin '20 has taken it on with determination. During Heart Health Week, our philanthropy team, led by Hana Zwain '19, Sophia Cloutier '20, and Sosi Vartanian-Gibbs '21, put on multiple successful events leading up to the Red Dress Gala that weekend. One such event was our inaugural Mr. Heart Throb, a pageant-like competition between male representatives from different organizations. In the end, we generated over $17,000 for the Alpha Phi Foundation. In September, I had the pleasure of attending the Alpha Phi Leadership Institute in Disney, connecting with sisters from all over North America. This was a great opportunity to collaborate and learn new leadership lessons together—all of which I brought back to Beta Beta for the benefit of my sisters in East Lansing. As we look ahead to fall recruitment (led by Payton Kuhn '20), we are excited to introduce new traditions as well as continue past ones. We will be attending our first-ever Camp Phi, which will be an overnight trip during Spirit Week filled with fun, adventure, bonding, and recruitment practice. We look forward to the continuation of honor and sisterhood that our new members will bring to our chapter, and we cannot wait to meet them!
