I am wearing a few hats as I write this in the hot days of summer here in Michigan! First, as HCB President, I would like to provide an update on the new housing rules at MSU. You might have heard that MSU has changed its housing policy to require two years of living on campus. This was announced two years ago and is scheduled to commence this fall. As you can imagine, this led to much upheaval among Panhellenic groups, including our house. Fortunately, working with IFC/Panhellenic and other MSU leaders, Alpha Phi applied for and was approved as a second-year housing option for eligible sophomores in good standing. The chapter has also worked hard to help last year's new members navigate the process of moving into the house this fall. We look forward to a full house of Alpha Phis, who will move in this August to begin Spirit Week in preparation for another successful recruitment. My other role as Centennial Celebration Co- Chairman is in full gear as we continue to plan all the events around our upcoming weekend. But before Beta Beta's big event, I attended our national convention in late June. This included, of course, celebrating Alpha Phi's 150th anniversary, which happily coincides with our own 100-year celebration. What an exciting time for all Alpha Phis! That said, you will not want to miss a single moment at our Centennial Celebration on October 7-9. The best place to learn all the details and buy tickets is our website: www.msu-alphaphi-alum.com. Please buy your tickets by August 22. Our theme is "A century of sisterhood. A lifetime of friendship," and no truer words define my experience as a Beta Beta. I'm celebrating 45 years since my initiation, and I am so grateful that most of my closest friends were (and are) Alpha Phis. A true bond! Been a while since your last house visit? Then the Saturday morning event will be a real treat! Come enjoy a light breakfast buffet and tours: find your old room, check out the fantastic renovations, and see the many changes since you lived in the house. Who could forget lining those spiral stairs in song or candle lightings in the formal as we anticipated where the candle would stop? Check out our Facebook group, Alpha Phi Michigan State University – Beta Beta Chapter Alumnae, to see photos and TBT (throwback Thursday) pics from scrapbooks, MSU Archives, and other photos shared with us. To share your own treasured photos, snap a pic and send it to centennial@msu-alphaphi- alum.com. There will also be a fun video of these pics throughout the celebration weekend, highlighting memories of our special sisterhood while we create new ones. This will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Hope to see you there!
