ALWAYS ALPHA PHI O M I C R O N C H A P T E R O F A L P H A P H I NEW HOUSE CONSTRUCTION MARCHES ON "HAND-IN-HAND CHALLENGE" ENCOURAGES CLASS PARTICIPATION As we watch the construction of the new house unfold at 906 S. Providence, nothing is more evident than the power and strength of our sisterhood. An enormous thank-you is owed to all sisters who have pledged their support to the Sisterhood Begins at Home campaign. At the conclusion of the recent Decade Challenge, our campaign goal of $1.5 million was reached! It is, without question, an amazing accomplishment, and one that speaks directly to the love and dedication so many Omicrons feel towards Alpha Phi. While this milestone is significant, there is still the need and the opportunity to invite more sisters to participate in the campaign. Groups from various classes and eras have joined together to give, and we call upon each sister of every generation to lead and represent your time as an Alpha Phi at Mizzou. The recently launched Hand-in-Hand Challenge is seeking to do just that by encouraging the highest rates of participation across each pledge class of Alpha Phi. This is the moment to make a pledge, to do your part, and to bring the type of Alpha Phi experience you had to current and future collegiate members—an experience that is defined by togetherness and sisterhood. One that bonds women together and brings with it a "forever" sense of home within the walls of this new house, a house that alumnae will be proud to call home. This is our moment to help ensure Alpha Phi thrives at Mizzou for years and years to come. Will you join your sisters in bringing this dream to life? JUNE CONSTRUCTION UPDATES Despite supply chain challenges across the country, we have been quite fortunate in the availability of building materials so far. If things continue to go our way, students will be able to move into the new house by early August—just in time for formal recruitment. Key accomplishments over the past few months include: • White exterior bricking is complete and windows are installed. • Parking lot, sidewalk, and roof/shingles are complete. • Bathroom tiling and interior painting are underway. Kitchen installation will be complete mid-July. • Beds, mattresses, and dining room tables and chairs delivering early August. • The arts and crafts room, space for rehearsals, and an emergency shelter in the basement will be immediately accessible when the house opens in the fall. Once Jane Sutter Brandt '78 joined the sisterhood, she never thought for a minute about leaving. Alpha Phi provided her with a community and a family on an overwhelmingly large campus. Omicron emphasized academics but knew how to balance fun, from intramurals to mixers with fraternities to just hanging out in the TV room. "What attracted me to Alpha Phi was that the girls seemed so down-to-earth," Jane said. "Most of all, each young woman seemed genuinely interested in me. Alpha Phi also helped me develop as a leader and gain a larger voice—skills that I was going to need as a journalist."
