INSIDE: Forever Strengthening the Brotherhood 2 Meet Our Advisory Board Chapter Eternal Why Our Members Chose Sigma Chi 3 ank You, Loyal Brothers 4-5 Standard Bearer The Spring 2022 Eta Chapter of Sigma Chi at the University of Mississippi W hen we first announced the Building a Tradition of Excellence campaign in the fall of 2019, we set out to raise $2.5 million to expand and renovate our chapter house. Here we are three years later with 253 incredible supporters who have helped us reach our goal. We are humbled. UPDATES ON OUR HOME Your support in this campaign has allowed us to make tremendous progress on our home. Most of the construction has been completed; our remaining project is the buildout of the bed and closet platforms in the dorm rooms, which will be completed prior to the fall semester. The near completion of the renovation has brothers excited to move in, and chapter leadership reports that they have a full dorm and a waiting list for fall 2022. THE NEXT STEPS After dedicating several years to this fundraising effort, we are prepared to officially close the campaign August 31. We will soon be sending a last-call letter to confirm your capital campaign commitment, eligibility for the donor plaque, and, if applicable, your donor plaque listing. This will be the final opportunity to make a first-time or increased commitment to determine your giving society and plaque placement. THERE IS STILL TIME TO HELP Please take this time now to view our list of contributors on pages 4-5. Are you included? Are you at the giving level you want to be at on the permanent plaque? We are grateful to all of our donors, but only those who have made commitments of $2,500 or more will be included on this final piece. If you have the means to add your name or increase your total commitment, please do so now by using the enclosed pledge form or visiting tinyurl.com/ MississippiSigmaChi for our online form. Your donation will secure our financial footing well into the future and will allow Sigma Chi to remain competitive at Ole Miss. THANK YOU Thank you to all who have been a part of this project the last three years. Everything we have accomplished is due to your generosity, and we cannot thank you enough for all of the hard work, time, and treasure that you have committed to Eta Chapter. For those who have been watching from afar, please hear us when we say we would be honored to have you join us in this historic moment of our fraternity. In hoc, Doug Boone '85 dougrboone@gmail.com Mississippi Sigma Chi Association President Brotherhood as It Was David Craddock '94 Hopes to Provide Undergraduates the Full Sigma Chi Experience G rowing up in McComb, Mississippi, David Craddock '94 was not familiar with how the Greek system worked at Ole Miss; however, he took a leap of faith and decided to go through recruitment when he was an undergraduate. "As I went through the recruitment process, it became clear to me that Sigma Chi was where I belonged," David said. "The brotherhood that developed while I was in school still exists today. The guys that I became close to during my time at Ole Miss are still some of my best friends." The impact that Eta Chapter had on David's life comes from these relationships that were fortified over his four years at Ole Miss. Being part of a community that always takes care of each other—simply because you are a member—has given brotherhood a bigger meaning to David. "I wanted to support the capital campaign simply because of how much Eta meant to me when I was in school," David said. "A lot of my fondest memories are from those times at the house with the guys. I'm fortunate to be able to give a little back and wanted to help the guys that are there now, and in the future, to have the same type of positive experience that I had." Due to this overwhelmingly excellent experience being a Sigma Chi at Ole Miss, he was eager to give back. David saw the need to give back to ensure future generations Finishing What We Started Capital Campaign Efforts to Close August 31 (Continued on page 2) Daniel P.
