Celebrating Our Past
We were finally able to gather to
celebrate our 100th anniversary after
COVID-19 shut us down, but like the
rock, "We are firm and able to withstand
the ravages of time." With more than 100
alumnae members and more than 220
active chapter members in attendance on
April 30, we gathered at the Atrium in
Columbia for a cocktail party to celebrate.
Earlier in the day, house tours showed off
the beautiful addition and remodel of the
chapter house.
We were founded on the University of
Missouri's campus on May 20, 1921.
Our, "Founded on a Rock," is fitting
throughout Gamma Phi Beta and holds
true for Alpha Delta as well. E. Adeline
Curtis wrote in 1923, "Since the rock is
the firmest and most enduring substance,
able to withstand the ravages of time
and offering the strongest protection,
it seemed fitting that Gamma Phi Beta
should be thus founded. Protecting like
the rock, those who enter our fold, a sure
help in time of need, enduring to the end
of time—this is the wish for Gamma
Phi Beta."
We have been at our current address
since 1928. In recognition of our 100th
anniversary at the University of Missouri,
we received a resolution from the State of
Missouri recognizing and congratulating
us on our celebration and the good works
and achievements we have provided over
the years.
Looking Toward the Future
It seems like we were just gathering
at the 808 to rededicate our gorgeous
$6.2 million remodel, renovation, and
addition to the house (where chapter
meetings and formal dinners have
been held once again!). With the
It's Our House! The Campaign
for 808 Richmond campaign, we
raised just over $1 million toward
the cost of completion; yes, that
is $5 million short of our goal;

Celebrating 100 Years of Alpha Delta
SISTERS GATHER TO HONOR OUR CHAPTER AND PLAN FOR THE NEXT 100 YEARS
so, I would like to ask you to remember
and honor our times at the 808 and the
significance of our True and Constant
sisterhood with an annual gift in any
amount. Whether you give $10, $18.74,
$19.21, $25, $50, or an even larger gift,
I hope you will take the opportunity to
invest in the future of Alpha Delta.
To make a donation, visit donate.
gammaphibeta.org/alphadelta808 or
mail a check to our accounting office:
Miller, Bales & Co., 1603 Chapel Hill Ste
203, Columbia, MO 65203. If you have
a Required Minimum Distribution, you
can send that through the foundation and
contact Danica Wilson at
dwilson@gammaphibetafoundation.org
for information on how to proceed.
Another way to give back is to use your
field of expertise. We would like to
develop a career mentor program via
Zoom to connect alumnae and collegians.
The chapter would arrange these meetings
with an alumna or a panel of participants
who could offer advice around their field
of work. We also hope there may be an
opportunity to develop these relationships
with internships, job shadowing, or even a
job. If you are interested in participating,
please contact our education vice
president, Katelyn Hunter '20, at
evp.mizzougphi@gmail.com.
