Town Hall on Summer Hours Federal Travel ID deadline is less than a year away Beginning May 3, 2023, you will need a federally-compliant creden- tial -- like the Arizona Travel ID -- to get past TSA checkpoints at airports for domestic flights. Without the Arizona Travel ID or other form of federally-compliant identification such as a valid U.S. Passport, fliers risk missing an airline flight because the non-travel driver license will not be accepted at TSA checkpoints. This credential is distinguished by a gold star in the upper right corner and is available to Arizona residents as a driver license or identification card. You can walk-in to an office for this service, but we suggest sched- uling an appointment and that can be done online at azmvdnow.gov. Even if you haven't activated your AZ MVD NOW account, you can still schedule a Travel ID appointment. Because the Arizona Travel ID is compliant with the federal stan- dards, you will need to provide ex- tra documentation. This includes: • Proof of identity: a birth certificate or US passport • Social Security Number: just the number, not the card • Two documents proving Arizona residency: rental or bank state- ments, credit card or cell phone bills in your name with your current Arizona address, etc. More information, and a full list of qualifying documents are available at azdot.gov/TravelID Number of AZ MVD Now ac- counts now exceeds 3 million More than 3 million Arizonans have discovered that AZ MVD Now is the safest, fastest and most convenient way to complete services with the Arizona Department of Transporta- tion Motor Vehicle Division. Since launching in April 2020, more than 3 million Arizonans have activat- ed their free AZMVDNow.gov account, giving them access to the primary on- line portal for MVD customers. Here are some of the things you can By Patrick Headington, Yuma Valley Rod & Gun Club President The Southwest Wildlife Foundation, and in partnership with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, I am pleased to announce that we were recently awarded a $21,326 grant from Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., as part of its outdoor Access Initiative (www.YamahaOal.com). The Yamaha Outdoor Access Ini- tiative is a proactive, grassroots program supported by Yamaha motorsports dealers and customers nationwide promoting safe, respon- sible riding and sustainable, open riding areas. Our Yamaha grant will fund the construction of a wildlife water at Scott's Leadwell near Quartzsite. This project will enhance wildlife habitat, and in turn, wildlife view- ing opportunities for OHV users and winter visitors to our area. Sev- eral local OHV groups have already lent their support, and the project had already received generous do- nations from the Arizona Peace Trail, the Arizona Sunriders OHV club, and the Ghost Riders OHV Club. These served to bolster our do with your AZ MVD Now account: • Go online and schedule your own in-office MVD appointments. • View information related to your vehicle, including title and registra- tion status. • Complete more than 30 services, like registration renewals, order- ing a duplicate license, change of address, registration refunds, title transfers, sold notices and more. Every Arizonan with a credential–a driver license or identification card – or a vehicle registered in Arizona has an AZ MVD Now account. To ac- tivate your account, go to AZMVD- Now.gov and follow the prompts. Arizona ID in Apple Wallet We're excited to be the first state to allow drivers to add their license or state ID card to Apple Wallet. The choice may ease the sometimes arduous nature of getting onto a flight. This puts our residents at the leading edge of convenient, private and secure technology. Using this feature in Apple Wal- let is voluntary. If anyone prefers to use a physical credential at airport security, they may. Once added to Apple Wallet, Arizona residents can present their driver li- cense or state ID to the Transporta- tion Security Administration at par- ticipating airport security checkpoints by simply tapping their device at the identity reader. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the first air- port in America where passengers can use this technology. We're proud that this started here and will spread. Credentials in Apple Wallet are private and secure. Users are able to choose what information they share. Biometric authentication ensures that only the person who added the ID to the device can view or present their information. If a resident loses their device, they can use the "Find My" app to easily lock, locate, or remotely erase it. Apple Wallet data is encrypted and pro- tected against tampering and theft. Security features allow the MVD to securely verify identity. More information about these top- ics can be found at https://azdot. gov/motor-vehicle-services. grant budget and matching funds, which was crucial in the success of the application. On a greater scale, the completion of this project will connect our groups with other Yamaha grant recipients including OHV riding groups, land managers, and local government agencies from across the country. We are proud of our efforts to en- hance wildlife habitat while keeping land accessible and safe for off-road enthusiasts, and wanted to make you aware of this important achieve- ment here in Quartzsite, Arizona. [Scott's Leadwell, Historic watering site is located a few miles north of town. According to Quartzsite Off- Road website: There is a natural spring at this site. The windmill was used to pump water into holding tanks; then, gravity-flow to watering troughs for livestock when needed. Scott's leadwell served cowboys and their cattle. The cattle pens and waterers still exist as of 2016. Due to the windmill being shot apart by vandals over time, and graffiti and gunshots to the tanks, BLM re- moved the windmill as being a haz- ard, and restored the tanks.] Leadwell to receive improvements
