Neither Sharon or I had heard of or played pickleball prior to moving to IslandWalk in 2018. Since then, we play practically every day and enjoy playing in local tournaments at Englewood and Punta Gorda. We also enjoy kayaking and have paddled many of the local waterways. Do you attend activities in and around your neighborhood? In addition to sports and swimming at IslandWalk, we enjoy the wide variety of concerts, comedians, farm markets, food trucks, etc. that come to IslandWalk's Event Center. We also enjoy attending events in and around Venice including Christmas in July, a Taste of Venice, the Chalk Festival and bike rides offered by Bicycles International including "Ride the Beaches" and the "Glow Ride." Do you travel a great deal? We had planned a nice trip to Italy and Greece that was canceled due to COVID. This past fall we did a quick trip to Daytona (and played pickleball of course). This summer we will travel to Alaska for two weeks with friends. What absolutely describes the best thing about your neighborhood? The friendly nature of everyone and the energy that surrounds the community. Every morning folks are out walking, jogging, riding bikes and the courts are PHOTO PROVIDED BY THE RANSOMS Bob and Sharon Ransom had never played pickleball until they moved to Florida. full of laughter and competition. This same feeling continues into the evening with the various Event Center activities such as the concerts and comedy shows. IslandWalk is just a friendly place where folks are always smiling and waving. You can't help but be happy here. By Jonathon Kosec
