Beach Road, Englewood This large beach is Charlotte County's main park on the Gulf of Mexico. It's an easy drive over two bridges that span beautiful Lemon Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway. Englewood Beach features swimming, fishing, shelling, picnic shelters, barbecue grills, birding opportunities and wooden walkways. There are also updated playgrounds, basketball courts, beach volleyball and horseshoe pits. There's a newly refurbished shower and restroom facility and a recently paved parking lot. There is a small fee to park, and self-service parking passes sold from machines. This popular public beach is also across North Beach Road from several great restaurants, patio bars and a fun shop- ping area. Stump Pass Beach State Park 900 Gulf Blvd., Englewood If you like nature and a little more seclusion, Stump Pass Beach State Park is for you. In addition to swimming, nature trails, birding, shelling and fishing, this beach operated by the Florida State Park system offers winding coastal nature trails, a picnic pavilion, a canoe/kayak launch, showers and restrooms, and access to Stump Pass, the waterway that links the Gulf of Mexico with Lemon Bay. There is a small fee to use this park, and you should plan to bring your own amenities like snacks and drinks. FILE PHOTO Blind Pass has a canoe and kayak launch on its bayside. Blind Pass also has a fun playground for the kids.
