The park is on the south end of island on the Boca Grande Causeway. It is good for hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. Plus you can do some shelling along the beach. 880 Belcher Rd., Boca Grande. 941-964-0375, https:// bit.ly/3lZqVfw INDIAN MOUND PARK The park is named for the large archaeological feature that is part of the Paulsen Point site, which was occupied between 1,000 B.C. -1,350 A.D. There also is plenty of bird and wildlife viewing at this park. 210 Winson Ave., Englewood. 941-861- 5000, https://bit.ly/3zLLIbb JELKS PRESERVE This is a dog-friendly park (leash required) that is great for bird and wildlife viewing. There is a trail map available on the website. 2300 N. River Road, Venice. 941-861-5000, https://bit.ly/3zGAIvx MAXINE BARRITT PARK The park has walking trails around a manmade lake, restrooms and plenty of parking. You may encounter many walkers who keep track of their miles while enjoying the seagrape and palm canopy. Or you can step off the trail onto one of three shaded, picnic-tabled platforms overlooking the dunes and the Gulf. The chances of seeing an alligator and a dolphin on the same walk are possible.
