Keeping Kappa Alpha's House in Shape

Chapter House landscape plans.

T
he Chi Omega House
Corporation Board's
responsibility is to provide a
safe, comfortable, inviting home away
from home for all of our Kappa Alpha
sisters. Throughout the years, our
Chapter House has undergone major
renovations, including the all-house
renovation in 2008 and the renovation
to the bathrooms in 2012. We also
replaced all of the windows in 2014.
More recently, we made minor updates
to the basement study room, and
thanks to our Parent's Club, the patio
area received a fun face-lift in 2021.
We have so many things to be proud
of, but like our personal homes, Chi
Omega needs constant maintenance
and updates. As the board plans and
budgets for this year and future years,
we have numerous projects on our
to-do list.
By the time you read this newsletter,
there will be a completely new roof
at Chi Omega. No one can pinpoint
the last time our roof was replaced,
so as you can imagine, it was time to
do so! Due to damage incurred by the
winter storm earlier this year, we were
eligible for a total roof replacement
and escaped responsibility for the full
expense. What a blessing in disguise!
The next items on our to-do list are
to replace the exit (north) driveway
and complete the second phase
of our landscape master plan. The
board voted and approved to move
forward with both of these projects,
and we anticipate the driveway to be
completed this summer, followed by
the landscape improvements in the fall.
The landscape project will dress up the
front of the house and entry walkway
with new trees, shrubs, and perennials.
We can't wait for the actives and
alumnae to see the finished product.
Another major project on our radar is
the replacement of all bunk beds and
mattresses. While there is no definitive
timeline yet for this project, it is
something at the top of our priority list.
As a board, we are committed to
advancing our Chapter House and
are excited to watch our active sisters
flourish this year. Please consider
using the enclosed pledge form or
visiting tinyurl.com/ChiOKState to
show your support for these necessary
improvements!
