Law School in 1985. He practices as a business
transactions attorney in Oklahoma City while
being a shareholder and member of the Board
of Directors at McAfee and Taft, the largest
law firm in the state.
Joe suggests that all undergraduates soak up
as much as they can from the Lambda Chi
experience. "You'll never again be in a position
in your life like you are during these short
years. Make the most of every minute and
opportunity," he advised. "We loved Hobo
party and Homecoming each year, bucket
nights at the Attic, social functions, trash-
talking basketball at the house, and frisbee in
the front yard. Too many memories to even try
to recount! Some of the best were simple times
like hanging around the house with the guys."
Joe tries to keep his Lambda Chi connection
strong in any way possible. Just recently, he
celebrated the wedding of one brother's son
in Cabo alongside a group of alumni brothers.
"I haven't had a chance to visit the new
house yet, but I look forward to doing so. My
support for the new house project was really
an acknowledgment of the significant role
Lambda Chi had in shaping me. I felt I had a
duty to pay some of that back."
After graduating law school, Joe married Jamie
Baxter, an OU alumna and former cheerleader.
"My group of Lamb Chop buddies and I set
out to convert her to be a true Poke fan, though
anyone who knows Jamie and her undying
loyalty to OU knows that's a pipe dream!" The
two have four children, a granddaughter, and
a grandson on the way this summer. Joe stays
involved in community groups through serving
on the Board of Trustees and as president for
both the Children's Hospital Foundation and
Heritage Hall School in Oklahoma City. His
family is heavily involved in their church, All
Souls' Episcopal Church. You can connect with
Joe at joe.lewallen@mcafeetaft.com.
