For more details drop in and welcome Quartzsite's New Postmaster, America Fucci. United States Postal Service (USPS) DOES NOT PROVIDE MAIL DELIVERY TO HOME ADDRESSES IN QUARTZSITE! Jane Doe XXX MAIN STREET # XXXX (Be sure to Use the "#" , but NOT "PO Box" ) Quartsite, AZ 85346 (or 85359 for Annex) EXAMPLE: Letters should be addressed to your P. O. Box XXXX Courtesy of Desert Messenger Quartzsite, AZ - Receiving pack- ages and mail has been a challenge for the small Town of Quartzsite for many decades. Folks working at the Post Offi ce have been on the re- ceiving end of many angry custom- ers over the years. When our small town grows into a city, the staff can get overwhelmed and customers can get frustrated. Enter America Fucci, the new Quartzsite Postmaster. She ex- plained to Desert Messenger the challenges in a community that does not receive home delivery. Fucci re- viewed the information on to the left and emphasized the importance of entering the proper address. When ordering packages, she strongly advised using the "#" in front of your PO Box number, and not including the words "P.O." or "Box." When shippers use see the "#" they will most likely include it in their shipping label believing it could be an apartment or suite number, but long words may not make it onto the shipping label. That is what happened to a recent package that was "returned to send- er." I learned the shipping label did not include all the information I en- tered online. So, it's not always the Post Offi ce's fault. Fucci explained if folks have a paid (Premium) Box, they can fi ll out a form at the Post Offi ce to use the Post Offi ce as their street address. In Premium PO Box Service locations that offer Street Addressing, such as Quartzsite, a customer's mailing address may be either the street ad- dress for the Post Offi ce where their PO Box is located, followed by # and the box number, or PO Box fol- lowed by the box number. Some merchants do not allow ship- ping to a PO Box address. The Street Addressing option enables customers to order online and receive package deliveries from private carriers who re- quire a street address for delivery, such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, or Amazon. With Street Addressing Service, you have the option of using the street address of this Post Offi ce lo- cation for your mailing address in addition to your PO Box number. For example, if a Post Offi ce is lo- cated at 500 Main Street and your PO Box is "PO Box 59", with Street Addressing Service your mail may be addressed to you at "500 Main Street #59". You may also use Street Address- ing Service to receive packages that comply with USPS mailing stan- dards deposited by private carri- ers, such as UPS, FedEx, DHL and Amazon. You may use this address only for items that can be delivered through the mail (packaged and sealed). You may not use Street Address- ing Service to receive shipments of wine, other alcohol, items over 70 pounds or any items prohibited by Postal Service policy (see Domestic Mail Manual (DMM) Section 601) or law. Private carrier shipments of prohibited items will be refused or held for return pickup by the pri- vate carrier. The DMM is available at http://pe.usps.com/. If you close your PO Box, you must submit separate Change of Address (COA) forms for both the PO Box address and the Street Address Ser- vice. Both forms must be forwarded to the same delivery address. USPS will not forward mail for a PO Box with Street Address Service to two different addresses. If you decide to discontinue Street Addressing Service, mail bearing the street address will be delivered to the PO Box without charge for an additional 90 days. The 90-day pe- riod is designed to give customers time to communicate their address change to their mailers. After the 90-day period expires, all mail ad- dressed to the Street Address will be returned to sender or disposed of in accordance with USPS regulations.
