It's an annual custom for Turner Classic Movies to show the Irving Berlin-driven 1948 musical on the most appropriate day, and it turns up there again on Sunday, April 17. Fred Astaire came out of retirement to star opposite Judy Garland ... and as if they weren't enough, Peter Lawford and (in her first major role for MGM) Ann Miller also are on hand. The story casts Astaire as a Broadway talent seeking a successor to his dance partner (Miller), who is pursuing an opportunity to branch out on her own. He settles on Garland's character, and when they audition for a show, its star turns out to be – you guessed it – Miller. 'Easter Parade' is perfect on ...
