SIGMA NEWS GAMMA PHI BETA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS • SPRING 2022 EMBRACING CHANGE AND LOOKING AHEAD Sigma Says Goodbye to COVID-19 Restrictions and Hello to Chapter House Renovations CHAPTER OFFICERS T he Affiliated House Corpora on Board of Gamma Phi Beta is happy to announce that we have finally returned to normal following COVID-19 protocols! Douglas County has li ed the mask mandate, and masks are no longer required in the chapter house, on the KU campus, or in Lawrence. As protocol has been less strict this academic year, we were able to move the beds back into the sleeping dorms and allow for normal occupancy of the chapter house. We are thrilled to welcome a larger number of live- ins in fall 2022, including not only our 2021 pledge class, but also some execu ve officers and juniors. With the ongoing and unprecedented changes over the past two years, we're looking forward to some rewarding and posi ve change this year as the AHC is preparing for Sigma summer projects. As you can imagine, the care and ongoing maintenance of an almost 100-year-old house is quite significant! We typically u lize the long summer break to focus on upgrades, whether they be structural, mechanical, aesthe c, or a combina on of all. The goal of the AHC is to determine which projects are most needed and then gather mul ple bids for the work that is to be completed. The AHC an cipates replacing the upstairs hall carpet as well as the outside ligh ng at 1339 as our top two priori es. Addi onal projects and a long-term strategy are being considered as well. We strive to handle our resources prudently to ensure that we provide the women of Sigma Chapter with a safe, comfortable home that is tasteful and welcoming. Especially with COVID-19 regula ons dissipa ng, we expect a large live-in number in the chapter house, so we are on a mission to revamp the house to accommodate our beloved and growing sisterhood. Like most things, addi ons and upgrades come with a price tag. We are calling this mission the Chapter House Upgrade Fund. So far, our wonderful alumnae's dedica on and commitment to Sigma Chapter has never faltered. You always show up, contribute what you can, root for fellow sisters, and wholeheartedly believe in the en rety of the organiza on. If you'd like to be part of the adventure in renova ng the chapter house, please visit h p:// nyurl.com/SigmaGPB to contribute today. We look forward to sharing chapter house updates in the coming months. In the mean me, we welcome and encourage alumnae to stop by and visit the home of Sigma Chapter at 1339 West Campus Road for a stroll down memory lane! As the saying goes, "Remember Gamma Phi Beta, remember when you're away. Remember the friends you made here, and don't forget to come back some day … we'll remember you."
