When you are in the hospital, take an active role in your care.
If you're in pain, let us know. Pain management works much better
if you don't wait until the pain is unbearable before asking for help.
Doctors call this keeping ahead of the pain curve.
Don't be afraid to speak up if you have questions or concerns.
And don't be embarrassed if you don't understand something your
doctor or nurse tells you. Keep asking until you understand.
Help us support healing by asking your visitors to leave by 9 p.m.
We call this the HUSH program. Patients need rest to heal.
Feel free to ask a loved one to stay after visiting hours if you desire.
Lastly, don't be reluctant to ask if there is anything we can do to
enhance your stay. Yes, our nurses are busy. But they are never too
busy for our patients. At Cape Fear Valley, we have the time.
