SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY AT AUBURN UNIVERSITY SPRING 2022 THE AUBURN SIG HOUSE CORPORATION CORNER Landscaping, Safety, and Security Plans Are Underway Brothers, I hope you are as excited about Gamma Sigma as I am. As you will see in this newsletter, our chapter is doing very well: we're gaining members, maintaining high academic standards, and giving back to the community. Your alumni support has played a significant role in this success. Many thanks to all of you for continuing to support the Robert A. Benz Gamma Sigma White Cross Society (WCS). Last year, we received over $42,000 in contributions, and we are closing in on the $100,000 mark for contributions since the inception of the WCS. Right now, the Sigma Chi Foundation is evaluating applications for $10,000 in scholarships for this year. We also plan to reinstate our scholarship dinner this year in April. We are excited to combine this with the inaugural leadership speaking series, featuring two-time past President of Auburn University—and our own brother— Jay Gogue '69 as the speaker. Our foundation is healthy, and we thank you for your support and encouragement. If you would like to contribute to the WCS, you can use PayPal or send a check to: Fred McCallum 2110 Longleaf Trail Vestavia, AL 35243 In Hoc, Alan Shackelford '90 Sigma Chi Foundation President SIGMA CHI THRIVES THANKS TO YOU O ur group is constantly working on something! We have added a sidewalk from the lower parking lot to the party barn, removed a number of trees in the backyard, and are getting ready to lay some sod to spice up the backyard. A new backyard patio will be added this spring to give more outdoor seating and a new place to congregate; it will be positioned between the dining room and the dorm. e chapter is excited for this addition! We continue to paint and refresh the house each summer, hoping to keep it attractive for recruitment efforts. e undergraduate brothers are always a big help providing labor and ideas. is coming summer, we will finalize the replacement of room air conditioners and polish and clean all floors. We intend to look closely at the landscaping to make sure that we remain well-lit and safe. Our other concern is upgrading the security system so that we can monitor and maximize safety. e house is in decent shape. We continue to do minor maintenance and upgrades, but we sense that the need for a new structure is on the horizon. e house corporation has begun discussions and will give everyone a report aer we conclude our findings. Our annual meeting will be at the house in October. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out. I hope to see everyone this coming fall for a football game!
