One in five students considering membership in a
social fraternity ultimately decides not to join because
of financial concerns.
To assist in the acquisition of a sound education, Delta
Chi has provided resources and support as our brothers
achieve their academic goals. Today's undergraduates
face unprecedented financial challenges, however,
which keeps great men from becoming Delta Chis.
College costs have increased more than 200 percent
in the last 40 years, and student debt saw its sharpest
increase in history in 2020.
Our goal is for the diverse make-up of our chapters
to mirror their respective campuses. To do this, we
must break down financial barriers to provide greater
access for qualified men to join Delta Chi and create an
inclusive environment for them to grow in once they do.
Because our Fraternity is an extracurricular
organization, we are hit hard by this crisis. Undoubtedly,
many young men are making the difficult decision
whether to join Delta Chi when faced with the financial
burden of a college education. It is heartbreaking to see
good men decline bids or deactivate due to financial
reasons. If we are to continue fostering an inclusive
environment, we must provide resources to assist all
potential and current members.
