Based on the podcast of the same name by Emmy-winning journalist Rebecca Jarvis and ABC Audio, this biographical drama chronicles the true story of the rapid rise and fall of American biotechnology entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes and her company Theranos. Holmes, portrayed in the series by Amanda Seyfried ("Les Misérables," 2010), dropped out of Stanford University to pursue a promising business prospect with a new and potentially revolutionary blood-testing technology. Building her company quickly, unforeseen complications with the product and Elizabeth's actions led to the fall of Theranos and a massive fraud law- suit. Created and written by Jarvis with fellow ABC news producers Taylor Dunn and Victoria Thomp- son (both of "GameStopped," 2021), "The Dropout" is directed by Michael Showalter ("Search Party"), Francesca Gregorini ("The Truth About Emanuel," 2013) and Erica Watson ("Snowpiercer"). Amanda Seyfried stars in "The Dropout" By Michelle Rose TV Media P unxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter, but Food Network is seemingly feeling a little more optimistic. "Spring Baking Champion- ship" kicks off a new season (its eighth) on Monday, Feb. 28, on Food Network and discov- ery+. The spring installment of the popular Baking Champion- ship competition series, "Spring Baking Champion- ship" has been a hit with view- ers since it debuted in 2015. This year, it's even getting its own spinoff: "Spring Baking Championship: Easter," which also premieres Feb. 28. But first, let's talk "Spring Baking Championship." The seasonal competition has cycled through a few hosts so far, including Ali Khan, who returned to host last year's edi- tion. This time, Molly Yeh of "Girl Meets Farm" fame is the host, and she's joined by re- turning judges Kardea Brown, Nancy Fuller and Duff Gold- man. Across 10 episodes, Yeh and the judges challenge America's top bakers to em- brace a "spring forward"- thinking mindset while creat- ing show-stopping, seasonal- themed desserts. In the two-hour, super-sized premiere, the 12 bakers will face the first elimination after they're challenged to make fruit tarts that showcase their personalities, as well as floral bonanza cakes. Of course, there will be plenty of other treats and twists featured in the weeks to come, with Food Net- work already teasing a Mardi Gras theme, a double elimina- tion and even a surprise return. If two hours of "Spring Bak- ing Championship" isn't enough, stay on the channel (or streamer) because "Spring Baking Championship: Easter" also begins its six-episode run on Feb. 28. Hosted by Sunny Anderson, the spinoff focuses squarely on Easter treats and themed showpieces and features judg- es Jordan Andino ("Raid the Fridge") and Stephanie Bo- swell ("Christmas Cookie Chal- lenge"). Right from the start, the eight bakers will be vying to impress the judges with their fantasy chocolate Easter dessert (and later with a giant cake version of themselves rei- magined as the Easter Bunny). While one contestant will be sent home by the end of the Feb. 28 premiere, the remain- ing competitors will be one step closer to being crowned Easter champion and the win- ner of a Golden Egg filled with "bunny money." Don't miss the Season 8 pre- miere of "Spring Baking Cham- pionship" and the first episode of its newest "Easter" spinoff when they air Monday, Feb. 28, on Food Network and discov- ery+.
