TO LEAD. TO SERVE
Founded at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, Theta Xi Fraternity is a national leader in the
educational and social development of its members. Our successes and diversity have been
celebrated by over 60,000 members since 1864. Theta Xi is one of North America's oldest social
fraternities and the only such organization founded during the Civil War.
The Alpha Psi Chapter at Missouri S&T was also created by engineers for engineers. In 1949, at what
was then n a m e d Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (MSM), a small local organization called
Chi Sigma founded the Alpha Psi Chapter of Theta Xi Fraternity and continued the tradition of an
engineering culture.Traditionally, the Alpha Psi Chapter of Theta Xi has been led by engineers.
Although the majority of the Chapter is comprised of engineering students, Missouri S&T n o w
supports many different collegiate majors and w e welcome members from all academic disciplines.
FOUNDED FOR
ENGINEERS,
BY ENGINEERS
Theta Xi Fraternity aims to support its members into developing into their best selves to
reach their highest potential. Though a fraternity founded for engineers by engineers, the
organization works to support member development physically, spiritually, socially, and
mentally outside-classroom- to compliment their inside-the-classroom experiences for
students of all academic majors. Missouri S&T graduates must have excellent communication ,
teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills and a commitment to civic engagement and
service to reach their fullest personal and professional potential. Theta Xi helps its members
achieve this. The Alpha Psi Chapter enjoys a diversity of Brothers who are studying every type
of engineering, science, and technology offered on campus giving our new members, and
even upperclassmen an opportunity to go to a Brother who has been there, done that.
