He earned this award for outstanding leadership as treasurer for more than five years. He was presented this award by Past Master Donald V. Collins. UNION GROVE – Grassy Knob #471 partnered with Union Grove Ruritan, Union Grove Fire/Rescue, and North Iredell Rescue Squad to provide and deliv- er bottled water, Gatorade, and snacks to Pilot Knob Volunteer Fire Department. Brother Avery Williams (second from left) delivered the supplies to appreciative volunteers. Reports recently received of those brothers from North Carolina lodges who have laid down their working tools. JACKSONVILLE – WB Leonard Mendonca, past master of Richlands #564 and member of Knights of Solomon #766, leads by example. Known by his brethren for his willingness to help anyone in need was on his way to lodge recently when he spotted an elderly man hitchhiking with his dog in a cold rain. WB Leonard went over to chat with the man and bought him coffee. The man told WB Leonard he had hitchhiked from Florida and was trying to get to Morehead City to see his sis- ter, who had taken a bad fall and was in a rehab center there. WB Leonard offered to drive him to Morehead City – about an hour away. After the man saw his sister, WB Leonard gave the man a ride back to Jacksonville.
