Howard Alan Anderson '53 entered Mystic Circle on April 30, 2021, surrounded by family at his home in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. Howard was the middle child and brother to Robert and William K. Anderson '50 and was raised in Rockville Centre, N.Y., while spending summers at Blue Mountain Lake in the Adirondacks. Howard graduated from Colgate University in 1953 with a degree in economics. After serving in the U.S. Army, he worked as a stockbroker on Wall Street. He is survived by Janice, his wife of 54 years. Together they raised three children, Howard Jr., Peter, and Leslie, in the suburbs of Albany, where Howard was the branch manager for the local bank. Howard and Janice spent their retirement years in Southport, N.C. Howard was a kind family man with an amazing sense of humor. Everyone that knew Howard briefly or for many years said that he was a wonderful, caring person. He had a way about him that just put a smile on your face. Robert L. During his leadership as chairman and CEO of McCann Erickson, Robert helped it become the largest advertising agency in the world. Outside of his passion for business, Robert was an avid skier, scuba diver, and hunter, but his excitement for sailing and sailboat racing on his beloved New York 40 Class yacht Carronade were where his competitive spirit could best be put to the test. Robert also initiated the James Prize for the National Academy of Sciences and served as a life trustee of the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and on the boards of The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, The National Captioning Institute, Operation Sail, the South Street Seaport Museum, and the World Ship Trust. Welcome, New Brothers!
