(Tours and Visitor Center operation are subject to COVID-19 status.) The tour in- cludes the Visitor Center exhibits, Peninsula and Delta Trails, and will focus on the Refuge's habitat types and the plants and animals that use them. Sturdy shoes or boots are recommended; and be sure to bring water, binoculars, sun screen and a hat to help make this an enjoyable experience! Located in a transition zone between the Mojave and Sonoran deserts, the Bill Williams River National Wild- life Refuge has a unique ecosystem that provides excellent habitat for many resident and migratory wild- life, including birds, reptiles, but- terfl ies, mammals and amphibians, as well as a diverse array of plants. It also contains the largest remain- ing stand of native cottonwood and willow forests in the lower Colorado River. Tour Information • Months: Sep-May • Group Size: No limit • Departure Times: 8am • Length of tour: 2 hr The Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge protects the lower course of the Bill Williams River, to its mouth at Lake Havasu reservoir, in western Arizona. It is located within eastern La Paz and Mohave Counties, in the Lower Colorado River Valley region. Bill Williams Wildlife Refuge is home to over 6,000 acres of habitat, 355 species of birds, 34 documented reptiles, 40 species of butterfl ies, 57 species of mammals, 7 amphibians, and a plethora of indigenous wild- life. We are a 100% volunteer club offering classes in lapidary, silversmith- ing, faceting, opal cutting, wire wrapping, beading, basket making, knap- ping, knife making, leather tooling, glass fusing, stone carving, casting and various specialty classes. Stop by any Monday, Tuesday or Wednes- day between 9:00 am and noon and receive a tour of the facilities. Our membership dues are only $20.00 per year. Quartzsite Desert Flyers The Quartzsite Desert Flyers, (the radio controlled fl ying club) is start- ing its 16th season in Quartzsite this year. We welcome back all experi- enced, new fl yers and spectators to another season of fl ying and cama- raderie. The club has a membership of 100 fl yers of all levels: from begin- ner to the most advanced. We meet each morning, weather permitting at the James B. Colwell Field, 780 North Plymouth Road. Each Thurs- days staring at dusk we night fl y. At the fi eld we have a full 625 ft. runway, capable of handling even jets. We have a "cross runway" to take advantage of the northwest winds we frequently experience in Quartzsite. The fi eld consists of six fl ight stations, 18 outside work benches and a solid covered shelter to work in out of the wind. The area is covered with carpet to keep the dust down. Our monthly business meeting is held the second Wednesday of every month at Jimmy's hangar, 1365 Datig Drive at 9:00 am. Mem- bership fees are $10.00 annually and a membership in the A.M.A. (Academy of Model Aeronautics) is mandatory. If you have any interest in fl ying, wish to learn how to fl y, or just want to be a spectator and talk to the pilots feel free to join us. Please don't be shy. Feb- ruary 4 will have a demonstration of night fl ying, Saturday will be our regular air show, expanded to take in the afternoon, the fi nal day will have an informal fun fl y and a swap meet.
