THETA DELTA DRAGON THETA DELTA DRAGON Page 2 THANK YOU, LOYAL THETA DELTA BROTHERS FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT Aaron Grieshop '19 Owes Success to Beta Experience T o some extent, we are all leaders. We all have goals, big or small, and things that we are passionate about. For Aaron Grieshop '19, his drive for success and positive aura stood out to the Beta eta Pi recruitment team, making him a great fit for the brotherhood. Coming to e Ohio State University, Aaron always had a lingering idea of becoming involved in Greek life on campus. His father, Dave Grieshop '85, is a Beta from OSU; seeing the impact of that brotherhood inspired Aaron to witness it firsthand. When Aaron walked into Beta's Chapter dinner at the Ohio Union for a recruitment event in spring 2016, he was immediately impressed by the caliber of men in the room: sharp, intelligent, and ambitious. "People always tell you to look at all the fraternities during recruitment, but I knew from day one which one I wanted to be a part of," Aaron shared. As he established his place in the Chapter as VP of brotherhood and risk manager, Aaron grew closer with his Beta brothers, making memories that will last forever. Whether it was football tailgates, brotherhood bowling, or themed gatherings, Aaron describes his Beta days as "an overwhelmingly positive experience." Aer graduating two years ago, Aaron made his way to Orange County, California. "Living here has made it difficult to physically see brothers on a regular basis," he shared. Fortunately, he connects with brothers as much as he can through group chats, FaceTime, and social media. "We still make it a point every year to link up with brothers in Columbus for some pizza, drinks, and conversation." If it weren't for the valuable experiences he had as a Beta, Aaron noted, "I would not be where I am today." Being a Beta taught him resiliency, leadership, and strength, which play a large role in his work as an Infantry Platoon Commander in the U.S. Marine Corps. Facing adversaries such as the Islamic State and the Iranian Aligned Militia Groups, Aaron has dealt with a wide range of emotions. "My time in the Marines can be boiled down to three words: honor, grief, and appreciation. I feel honor leading a group of brave young men into some of the most dangerous areas in the world. I feel grief losing 10 Marines from my own battalion this past August. I feel appreciation learning more about myself and our freedoms." When he's not working, Aaron enjoys his time in California, picking up new hobbies as much as he can. He regularly practices Brazilian jiujitsu, surfs, plays guitar, and is even a cryptocurrency enthusiast. "We'd be here all day if I went down that rabbit hole," he admits. To his Beta brothers, Aaron shares, "Beta offers an incredible opportunity to develop yourself now before you're leading people in the actual workforce, so don't squander any chances to flourish into yourself and your skills."
