state to do so. e devotion to public service seen in our EMS employees is unmatched, and I am proud to offer our residents care from such a department. roughout this upcoming year, we will continue to see growth in our city. e newly expanded Bella Vista Library has once again reached its normal hustle and bustle, offering programs for adults and kids of all ages. e replacement Fire Station No. 3 in the Branchwood area is set to open in January and construction continues on the new Public Safety Facility, which will house the Police Department, as well as the police, fire and EMS dispatch center and Bella Vista District Court. is building is set to open at the end of 2022. Both projects have been possible thanks to the voters' passing of a bond issue in the March 2020 election. Bella Vista was established long ago as a recreation-centered retirement destination which later became a full-fledged city following a vote of the people to incorporate in 2007. By 2012, the city was fully operational, offering residents police and fire protection, as well as street maintenance and a public library. Recreational amenities continued to be, and remain so today, operated by the Bella Vista Property Owners Association. But we are no longer solely a retirement community, but rather a place sought aer by those raising kids who love to play outside or those who love to play outside themselves. We continue to offer the quality-of-life people are seeking, and I am proud that those people can also feel safe here and that their homes are protected in the event of an emergency. With large, wooded lots and a serene and natural setting, our landscape is unrivaled in our region. It's refreshing to see the young and old, families and dog walkers, bikers and trail runners using our trails and other amenities and enjoying a healthy, outdoor lifestyle. Residents and visitors alike can enjoy the natural splendor that is Bella Vista, despite the holds of the continuing pandemic, and continue to thrive here.
