WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM DECEMBER 29, 2021 - JANUARY 4, 2022 UCW 19 WEEKLY HOROSCOPE NEWS OF THE WEIRD by the Editors at Andrews McMeel Syndication A Walk on the Wild Side A couple in Sherbrooke, Quebec, were each fined $1,500, when police spotted the pair walking outside about an hour after the city's 8 p.m. curfew, with the husband wearing a leash, CTV News reported. The city's COVID-19 curfew allows for dog-walking after 8 p.m., but police rejected the couple's claim they were following the rules. It was the first weekend under new province-wide restrictions imposed by Premier Francois Legault, and officers throughout Quebec handed out more than 750 tickets. Awwwwww Russell Jones of London couldn't figure out why his dog, Billy, was favoring one of his front paws while walking. He took the pet to the veterinarian to have X-rays, United Press International reported, but the vet found nothing wrong. Jones, however, had recently broken his own ankle and was wearing a cast and limping. At the $400 vet visit, the doctor suggested that Billy was simply imitating his owner. Man's best friend, indeed. People With Issues Some news items just catapult themselves into "News of the Weird. " On a Delta airlines flight in November between Syra- cuse, New York and Atlanta, the woman sitting in 13A allegedly tried to breastfeed her hairless cat, much to the cat's (and other passengers') distress. Flight at- tendants repeatedly asked the woman to return the yowling cat to its kennel, the New York Post reported, but she refused. "Her shirt was up and she was trying to get the cat to latch ... and the cat was screaming for its life," said Ainsley Elizabeth, a flight attendant who was on board during the incident. Finally, a message was sent through the Aircraft Communications Ad- dressing and Reporting System (ACARS) alerting the ground crew in Atlanta that they would need a Red Coat team member to apprehend the woman at the gate. (Red Coats are specially trained to handle cat-breastfeed- ing and other customer service issues.) It's unclear what hap- pened to the woman or her cat after the flight landed. Question: What has happened to Dexter in "Dexter: New Blood?" It's so dark now. He's certainly not the happy Dexter we all knew. — Kathleen Matt Roush: With all due respect: Wha-a-a-a-t? When have we ever known a "happy Dexter?" Yes, the original series with its Miami setting was brighter and had more comic relief, but Dexter is one of the most tormented anti-heroes in TV history, haunted by childhood trauma and saddled with the "dark passenger" he now worries his son Harrison has inherited. Seems to me that the first episode introducing him as "Jim Lindsay" showed him to be about as content as we've ever seen Dexter Morgan, a condition that obviously couldn't last long or there would be no series. When it wasn't always easy to see our real families this year, the hilarious Hay- worths of "Home Economics" and the net's other clans became the kin we can see ourselves in, and laugh with. Cheers to Good Sports. Let's raise a big foam finger for the hoopsters of John Stamos' Disney+ dramedy "Big Shot," the dysfunction- al wrestlers of "Heels" on Starz and everyone's favorite soccer coach Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) on Apple TV+. Talk about a championship season. Jeers to e CW's hide-and-seek scheduling. After launching their new seasons with five-week "events," "e Flash" and "Riverdale" are gone until March, when they'll move into different timeslots. Good thing there's a magazine that can guide you to find them when they return! Jeers to Joe Exotic for overstaying his welcome. With no big revelations or juicy new twists, Netflix's long- awaited "Tiger King 2" had much less bite than the original docuseries. Plus, it's just in bad taste to glorify criminals and other cretins who be- have like animals anyway. ARIES Mar 21/Apr 20 Group dynamics could be tricky this week.
