DEVELOPING THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW THROUGH THE ALPHA NETWORK GOAL: CREATE A $200,000 EDUCATIONAL ENDOWMENT TO NURTURE LEADERSHIP, MENTORING, AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS CURRENT STATUS Students today are eager for opportunities to connect with alumni, learn about careers, and chart a path for their future. With the introduction of the Alumni Leadership Forum, we are beginning to provide the sought aer opportunities. THE CHALLENGE Due to limited resources, our reach for connecting alumni and students has been limited. OUR PLAN Establish an educational endowment that will provide resources to expand our mentoring capabilities and internship program. We believe the internship and mentoring programs will set Alpha Chapter apart from any chapter at Miami and truly invest in the continued success of our membership. Assuming 4-5% returns, this endowment could produce $8,000 to $10,000 each year and will provide: • A mentoring soware platform • Student support costs for internship programs (living and travel expenses) A successful mentoring and internship program formalizes the networking and mutual assistance that have always been a part of our fraternity experience. Bringing Betas from different decades together is going to be great for our future and will expose our actives to the greater value of Beta over a lifetime. is endowment will provide resources to expand this program and help actives in need of financial assistance for travel and lodging to take advantage of shadowing and internship opportunities. –Dr. Doug Wagner '78 Falling under our Men of Principle mantra, the internship program begins that process in a young brother's formative years of gaining knowledge and taking his first step into the real world. e ability to provide a professional connection early in this process provides an invaluable guidepost for those that are earnest in this endeavor. And in the marketplace for fraternity life, we need to continuously set ourselves apart on the high road, and this program is a big differentiator. –John Czyzcki '87 42% of Greek alumni say a member of their fraternity helped them find an internship or a job. 39% provided them with career advice. Greek alumni are 3x as likely to say they engaged in experiential learning than unaffiliated alumni. 23% of Greek alumni had a mentor who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams. 6
