First of all, did you know that January is officially
Walk Your Dog Month?
It might be cold outside, and you might not WANT
to walk your dog, but that's exactly why you should
do it!
Regular walks and exercise are really important
for your dog's health and can keep your dog from
becoming obese. Your dog needs walking all year
round! Even a short walk around the block on a cold
day makes a big difference. So, begin this year with a
promise — more exercise for both you and your dog!
And…it's also national Train Your Dog Month!
There's no better time to show your love for your
furry friend by teaching him or her some new tricks
and good behaviors. Think of a fun and simple trick
like rolling over, playing dead, or fetch. Experts say that
training your dog is good for their health! Your dog
loves to be a good dog!!
January 14 is National Dress up Your Pet Day
Now, your pet may not like it so much, but this is
officially the day to dress them up. Maybe you can
even dress in matching outfits!! Don't forget to take
a picture! Since it's probably cold outside, your pet
probably won't mind a sweater? Whatever
you do, don't force your pet to put on
clothing that's uncomfortable to
walk or move in.
Did you know? Collars
were first used to adorn
dogs in Ancient Egypt.
January 22 is
National Answer
Your Cat's
Questions Day
Don't you wish
your cat could
talk? We bet
they have plenty
of questions, like
"why can't I scratch
the furniture?" or
"where's my favorite
food?" or maybe "why
won't you leave me
alone?"
You might even understand
your cat's questions just by
listening closely to their different
meows and purrs.
Did you know? In Ancient Egypt, cats were more than just
friends – they were important parts of social and religious practices,
and were considered beloved and holy house pets. Cats were so
honored they were even mummified like humans. Many of the Egyptian
gods even had heads of cats and bodies of humans!
January is an important month
for pet owners like you!
