A lpha Lambda's undergraduate chapter is strong! eir home is not. We need to fix that! Our collegiate brothers have done everything we could possibly ask of them and have successfully navigated the pandemic, emerging as robust and healthy as ever. Our 130 Brothers helped one another not merely to stay afloat, but to improve chapter operations and service to the community. As a result, Lambda Chi Alpha continues to be Oregon State's largest brotherhood—leading on campus and in the community. Lambda Chi has enriched the lives of young men for 104 years at OSU, offering an experience not offered anywhere else on campus. Recent studies have shown the positive impact of the Greek experience, which we've always known to be true at Alpha Lambda. Below are just a few of the key takeaways: • Fraternity members tend to have more positive mental health than other students. • Fraternities are success accelerators, preparing members to succeed in college and beyond—far more than what their peers experience. • 83% of fraternity members say their confidence in leadership skills increased because of their membership. • Fraternities inspire a stronger connection to one's university, community, and peers— shown in roles such as leadership and volunteering. Unfortunately, the home many of us grew up in is at the end of its useful life, with mechanical systems failing. Days before fall term began, a sewer line below the kitchen backed up and resulted in standing water in the front of house. e incident was severe enough to Alpha lambda Logos Lambda Chi Alpha • Oregon State University • Fall 2021 A Good Home, with Good Men, Is Good Business! ALPHA LAMBDA NEEDS A STRONG HOME consider closing the chapter house for fall term. Fortunately, we were able to temporarily mitigate the issue by shutting down much of water access in the front of the house, allowing the chapter to stay open. However, a costly repair will still be necessary. e Building for Our Second Century campaign will rebuild our home at Oregon State and address the needs of today's vibrant chapter, rather than react to increasingly costly repairs to our failing chapter house. Already, 115 alumni and friends have pledged more than $1.1 million to the campaign. anks to these generous donors and our outstanding undergraduate leaders, Alpha Lambda is closer than ever to making this aspiration a reality—and your help will help us bridge the difference. You can make or update your pledge today - which can be spread over 5 years, with the enclosed pledge card or by visiting tinyurl.com/ LCA2ndCentury. Your pledge will be crucial in making decisions in 2022! In addition to your own commitment, we encourage you to challenge other Brothers with whom you were closest during your years in college. Aerall, Lambda Chi is the reason many of us first met and why we remain friends all these years later.
