THE TAXI NEWS PAGE 4 Dear Brothers, It is crazy to think that the year is almost over; it seems like the fall semester just started! However, the semester has been nothing short of fantastic. It was full of events, including connecting with brothers and serving the community. Our recruitment chairman, Charlie Avendano '23, spearheaded our formal recruitment season this semester with events, such as tie-dying shirts, game nights, and paintball. All the hard work paid off, and we are proud to have invited six associate members to Alpha Sigma on October 31. Our associate members helped us tremendously during Homecoming week when we had a face-off against several other fraternities in the Homecoming games. These games included tug- of-war, battleship in Bradley's indoor pool, bocce ball, painting of the Lydia, kickball, and a soccer shootout. While we didn't win the overall competition, which we had for the previous two years, the experience still served as a catalyst for strengthening the bonds of our brotherhood. These bonds became stronger with a brotherhood cookout where we grilled hotdogs and burgers and played bags out on the front law. Later in the semester, we will host an associate member versus active member trivia night over Theta Xi history. Coinciding with Homecoming was Bradley University's annual Family Weekend. Bradley held two days full of events, including a volleyball game, Homecoming parade and tailgate, and the ceremonial lighting of the "B." Theta Xi held their own family weekend event with a potluck lunch—with every active member making a dish for the occasion! Over half of the active and associate members families joined us to enjoy a nice meal and some quality time together. Theta Xi works hard to serve the community, and it is evident in the chapter's philanthropic efforts. This year, we set up a booth selling popsicles on Bradley's campus in late August. We raised $101 for Habitat for Humanity and built upon Theta Xi's philanthropic presence on campus. Later in the semester, we will host a virtual bingo board, as we have done in previous semesters, as well as a virtual Walk MS, where we will be posting links to our Facebook pages and other social media accounts to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. There has been so much change recently, but one thing that hasn't changed is Alpha Sigma's efforts to remain a strong brotherhood. Our brothers have proven to be leaders, and I look forward to seeing what else we can accomplish. Yours in the Bonds, Allen McLean '22 Chapter President A STRENGTHENED BROTHERHOOD At the end of the formal recruitment week, we invited nine interested Bradley students out to Area 51 Paintball on September 3 and had a blast together. The families of both active and associate members came together on October 2 for Bradley's Family Weekend, where we all shared a potluck- style lunch made by the active members at the Theta Xi chapter house.
