Plym- outh Ave. 928-927-4333. www.QuartzsiteAZ.org Town Hall is back on winter hours Stand Down Resource Fair Saturday Nov. 20 There will be a Stand Down Re- source Fair for Quartzsite area homeless veterans and others on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 10am-1pm. The location will be at the QIA Parking Lot 235 E. Ironwood, Quartzsite (corner of Mesquite Ave. & E. Ironwood.) Call Paul Range for more information 210-854-4759. Free services and supplies for all veterans. The theme this year is a "Holly Jolly Christmas" Start thinking now about your fl oat or entry for the parade and join in all the fun of this wonderful light parade that brings the Christmas spirit to all of us!!! There is no entry fee. All en- tries are welcome as long as they are in the theme of Christmas and are lit so the judges can see them well. There's a change in route this year! Line up starts at 6 p.m. near the Quartzsite Fire Station on E. Ty- son St. The parade will travel east on Tyson, south on Plymouth Ave., turn east on Quail Trail Parade will end AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER with Tree Lighting, Awards AND AN UGLY SWEATER CONTEST! Refreshments will be provided by Town of Quartzsite: Desserts, Cof- fee, Hot Apple Cider, Hot Cocoa. This year the judges stand will be located at the corner of N. Plymouth & E. Quail Trail, across from Town Hall. If you would like to be a judge for the parade please contact the Chamber at 928-927-5200. Following the parade, Town of Quartzsite will host the After Party at the Community Center with re- freshments and presentation of awards. Please practice social dis- tancing. Applications for the parade are now available at the Quartzsite Chamber & Tourism and Town Hall. Applica- tions must be turned in before De- cember 2nd to be able to get into the parade. Plymouth Ave. • Council heard a presentation by the director of Eve's Place, Laura Horsley, about the services they have continued to provide to the community and region through the pandemic. Eve's Place, Inc. is a non-profi t 501©3 organization headquartered in the West Valley of Maricopa County that empowers victims of domestic sexual and teen dating abuse. • Council approved the ledger of accounts paid in the total amount of $166,741.05 and minutes for the October 26th regular meeting and work session. • Council adopted an ordinance amending Article V Paragraph 4 of the zoning code to allow farm ani- mals within the town under limited conditions. The ordinance also es- tablished a temporary youth organi- zation use permit to allow youths to raise and sell market animals at the La Paz County Fair. The animals can- not remain on a property for more than eight months. Council rejected the recommendation of the Planning & Zoning Commission to prohibit all farm animals in the town. • Council approved Conditional use Permit #8853 to allow a 96 sq. ft. LED sign to be erected at the new Terrible's Fueling Station at 1400 W. Main Street. The Town sign Code requires signs of this size and type to obtain a Conditional Use Permit (CUP). • Council adopted an ordiance to annex about 38,400 acres of BLM land to the east of Quartzsite. This annexation completes the process of eliminating improper islands that had been fi led previously. Arizona annexation regulations prohibits creating areas of unannexed lands, or islands, surrounded by annexed lands. • Council took no action on Reso- lution 20-11 regarding the Develop- ment Agreement for the Desert Gar- dens rezone project. The project has been withdrawn by the applicant. • Town Manager Jim Ferguson presented the 2020 Census popula- tion numbers for Quartzsite show- ing a dramatic decrease of about 1,000 persons from the 2019 num- ber of 3,400. He further explained the resulting decrease in state rev- enues to the Town. Council ap- proved the Town Manager & Mayor Norm Simpson to begin the appeal process.
