Dear Brother,
I am deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of collegiate brother Karson Janssen '20 #1841 on Thursday, November 11,
in the chapter house. He was a treasured member of our fraternity and was well known on campus. This is a difficult time for his
family, his fellow brothers, and the St. Paul campus community.
It is important to know that the Lambda Chapter Alumni Board, alongside our chapter advisers, house director, the National
Fraternity, and the University of Minnesota, has been valuable in offering support during this challenging time. The university
will offer counseling services to our collegiate brothers.
While the initial autopsy results indicate natural causes, it is inconclusive regarding a specific cause. The initial autopsy does
confirm neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor. We are praying for the sake of the Janssen family, and our collegiate brothers,
that the full autopsy report will be more conclusive.
Karson was from Sherburn, Minn., and a legacy brother of Lambda, following in the footsteps of his father, Kent Janssen '89
#1366. Both of Karson's biological brothers, Karter Janssen '17 #1805 and Kooper Janssen, Alpha Phi '19 #1135., are also
members of AGR. Karson was a sophomore studying agricultural communication and marketing with a minor in sports
management. He loved going to Gopher game days, being active on campus, and living in our chapter house. He was the light in
any room—always there to offer a smirk, crack a joke, or lend a helping hand. He was a confident young man and oh so kind.
Karson never could have enough friends as he had enough love for everyone.
Karson will be greatly missed, and we mourn his life that ended far too soon. Please join me and the Alumni Board in showing
the young brothers our support, in any way individually possible, as we continue to uphold our promise to make better men.
Fraternally Yours,
Keith E. Wolf '77 #1142
