Lanie N., a 5th grader from Gentry, has a lot of four-
legged friends. She lives on a farm with dogs, horses and
goats. But her favorites are her rabbits.
"I have three does (mamas) and one buck (daddy). The
does are named Honey, Star and Ms. Pickles. The buck
is named Blue. I have 11 babies right now and one of my
mamas is pregnant so I will have more babies this
month. They are so tiny when they
are born and I wait until they have
their hair before I pick them up. They
are so sweet and super soft. I like to
play with them and they cuddle up
with you. They can bite, but the babies
don't. I play with them all the time so
they get use to me and it makes it a lot
easier for me when it comes time for
me to show them at the fair.
They are easy to take care
of and it's not an expensive
hobby at all."
Lanie recently showed her
rabbits for the first time at
the Benton County Fair and
walked away with all the top
ribbons! She won first place
with both her rabbits (buck
and doe) in their breed
(Dutch). Her doe won Grand
Champion out of all the does
in the barn and she won Best
of Show out of all the rabbits
in the barn.
Way to go Lanie!!
