Q: What kind of services do you offer to the community through your business? A: Nest is a shop dedicated to providing our clients with the excellent quality fair trade products in Venice. We carry women's clothing and accessories along with home decor elements that are unique to the artisans who crafted them. We are especially proud that our small boutique supports women in business around the globe, including the United States. We focus on small crafters who have a unique and colorful item to offer. Our garments are primarily cottons and linens from craftsmen in India and Italy. Our home decor elements range from hand quilted throws of India cotton, wood architectural accents from Mexico, candles made in the US, along with towels from Turkey, table linens from India. Once you visit, we are sure that you will return! Q: How many years have you been with the business? A: Nest has been a part of downtown Venice since 2018. I purchased this shop in the spring of 2021. Q: What inspired you to take this business path/ career? A: For 23 years, I taught middle school math. I loved being part of the school community and never dreamed I would find myself the owner of a boutique. But on a bright spring day, my husband and I were enjoying downtown Venice and I saw a small "business for sale" sign in the window of Nest. I stopped and just felt the Lord whisper to my heart that this shoppe was my next adventure. My husband has been an entrepreneur/ business owner his entire adult life and I have always been his "CFO" keeping track of his clients and accounts so we weren't new to the idea of running a business, but a shop front WAS entirely different from anything we had previously done. Long story short...I listened to the Lord, and Chris and I stepped in to become shopkeepers. I have learned so much since April! Each day is new and exciting. I love greeting customers as they visit the shop and especially love hearing comments such as "This is a beautiful shop" and "I love this shop!"
