"As bad as it gets," she says, "never give up. I never give up. It's something I say to friends and relatives if they are going through a hard time. It can only get better after this. "Just have faith and it's going to all work out. It may not work out the way you want it to, but it's going to work out the way it's supposed to." For seven years she has owned Ivy's on Dearborn Ladies Boutique. But she has had to take her own advice several times over the years. Originally from Birmingham, England, she met an American in England, fell in love and moved to America in 1986. They divorced when son John was 18 months old. Mother and son were alone and living in Atlanta when a friend suggested she give Englewood a try. She came here on vacation and loved it. They moved here and she ended up running the run-down resort where she had vacationed on Englewood Beach. (It was the Sea Beach Resort then. Condos sit there now.) "Divorce, that was a big one because I got in a 17-foot U-Haul truck with my son and came South," she said. "And I hadn't been driving on this (right) side of the road very long. It was pure determination to make it better." During her business career Tyree has almost always been the boss. She's run a hairstyling salon As bad as it gets never give up. I never give up. It's something I say to friends and relatives if they are going through a hard time. It can only get better aer this. – Karen Tyree N Women In Business September 2021 26
