Daugherty #1009 Overall, Maryland Alpha remains strong as we enter our fourth semester of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have adapted our recruitment techniques each semester and drawn on our strong recruitment networks to attract quality new members. "Meet the Greeks" on the McKeldin Mall in August, which is when recruitment truly starts, was a blast. Membership and Honors Congratulations to our spring 2021 senior class! Many of these fine graduates are now working in finance, consulting, and other great starting positions for their careers. This past semester, were honored to receive seven awards from the National Fraternity: • Excellence in Chapter Recruitment • Excellence in Philanthropy • Excellence in Community Service • Excellence in Risk Prevention • Excellence in General Headquarters Reporting • Excellence in Academics (3.45 chapter GPA) • Bronze Star Plans for this Year We are excited for an in-person school year with great recruitment, philanthropy, and internship events. We are also holding a spikeball tournament later this fall to raise money for autism awareness in addition to our signature Casino Night next semester, which raises over $20,000 for ALS research annually. Later this semester, recent Phi Delt graduate Mike Hess #2065 plans to attend a meeting to discuss internship opportunities within his new startup. The active chapter is excited for our 90th anniversary/alumni weekend reunion in November. See you then! YITB, Chris Giuditta #2278 Chapter President State of the Active Chapter
