Picking the Right Camp In-home care options explained How to pick an in-home care provider Choosing the right in-home provider is an important decision for seniors and their families. – Photo provided by istock/getty images What to watch for to avoid a sub-par senior care experience By Peter Rubens Special to the Marin IJ A fter more than 16 years serving Marin and Sonoma residents who are aging, recovering or convalescing wherever they call home, I have gained a great deal of experience in this subject, and dare I say, have acquired a small bit of wisdom. Whether your choice is home care or a facility, it is important to recognize that if you are "lucky" enough to get old enough, you will come to the hard reality that there are only three choices about where you spend the last chapters of your life. They are, 1) stay at home with caregivers, 2) move into a facility, or 3) move in with family. Based upon my experience serving mostly those seniors that Tom Brokaw labeled, "The Greatest Generation" (those with their own experience of the Depression and World War II/Korean War), no one wants to be a burden to their children and as a result, option three is out! If you are "lucky" enough to get old enough, you will come to the hard reality that there are only three choices about where you spend the last chapters of your life. – Peter Rubens, Owner, At Home Caregivers 10 October 17, 2021 Senior Style A Marketing Supplement of the Marin Independent Journal | marinij.com
