Best Bakery/Best Desserts Superior Bakery 2433 Hope Mills Road 910-424-4242 or www.superiorbakerync.com Superior Bakery has a rich tradition of service to Fayetteville and Cumberland County, dating back to 1956 when it was founded by John S. Poulos. Poulos came to the United States from his native Greece in 1951. After work- ing as a dishwasher, he saved up enough money to buy a defunct bakery on Raeford Road. He married Kay Paliouras in 1958, and the couple grew the business until it relocated to its current location in 1971. Poulos retired in 1988, and the business stayed in the family as son Nickos took over. This year, the family is celebrating 65 years in business thanks to all of their loyal customers. One longtime customer of Superior Bakery recently shared this review on Facebook. "I have loved this bakery for 40 years,'' she said. "If you like a German-style breakfast, go buy their brotchen rolls baked fresh every morning. I could eat a half dozen of their glazed croissants. They're amazing. They have a wonderful variety of lots of other delicious bakery items too.''
