Born in Cherokee Falls, she was the wife of David Randall "Randy" Martin and the daughter of the late John Dewey Hampton and Margie Collins Hampton. In addition to her hus- band, Mrs. Martin is sur- vived by her children, Teresa Parker, Tracey Parker, Tina Richardson, and Brittaney Lecroy; her sister, Karen "Sissy" Martin; and five grandchildren and great- grandchildren. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Wayne Hampton, Judy Ellis, and Gail Mullinax. Funeral services were held September 12, 2021, at Gordon Mortuary, Blacksburg, with Rev. Jacob Mullinax, Rev. Jeff Williams, and Rev. Eric Sellers offici- ating. Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery. ROBERT STANLEY YARBOROUGH Robert Stanley Yarborough, 54, of Blacksburg, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021. Born in Charlotte, he was the husband of Deborah Turner Yarborough and the son of Robert Stanley Yarbough Sr. and Brenda Dover Yarborough. Surviving Mr. Yarborough are a step-son, Mitch wife, Denise; and a sister, Leighann Thompson and husband, Pete. A Private Service was held September 11, 2021. HAROLD DEAN MELLON, SR. Harold Dean Mellon, Sr., 77, of Mooresboro, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Born in Cleveland County, NC on June 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Ivey T.C. Millon and Pauline Swink Millon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mickey Mellon and a brother, Larry Mellon. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Redmond Mellon; two daughters, Becky Shaffer of Conover and Elizabeth Watson of Vale; a son, Harold Mellon, Jr. of Lawndale; two brothers, Thomas Mellon of Cherryville and Ricky Mellon of Casar; three sisters, Helen Burgess of Connelly Springs, Carolyn McGinnis of Lincolnton and Marie Johnson of Lawndale; eleven grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grand- children. A Memorial Service was held August 29, 2021 at the House of Prayer with the Rev. Clyde Price officiating. The burial followed the ser- vice in the church cemetery. Land passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Gene was born in August, 1929 in Greenville, SC to the late Inez Babb Land and Truluck Land. Rev. Land served our country in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. In addition to his wife, June Taylor Land, he is survived by his sons, Kelly Eugene Land of Rutherfordton, NC and Richard Harrison Land of Stanley, NC; his sister, Joy Miller; sister-in-law, Tillie Land; brother-in-law, Sid Baker of Reidsville, NC, and sister-in-law, Brenda Baker of Trinity, NC; and June's children including daughter, Laura Smith Scholz (and husband, Mike) of Edina, MN and their daughters, Taylor and Kendall, her son, Michael Vonsmith (and wife, Kristen) of Minnetonka, MN and their daughter, Katherine. In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by his sister, Wilma Pierce; brother-in-law, Jack Pierce; brother, Bub Land; brother-in- law, Bruce Miller; the mother of his children, JoLynn Baker Kuhn; and brothers-in-law, Don Baker and Scott Baker. A Celebration of Gene's life took place September 14 at Second Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, NC. Interment followed at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC.
