38 www.thejewelrybook.com Watches To start the week off in proper fashion, the COUTURE show at the Wynn Hotel (August 24th through the 26th) will open its door to buyers and retailers who might be looking to visit the many recognizable and well-respected watch brands exhibiting at their fair. One of the watch manufacturers that has been a staple at the COUTURE show for years is Bell & Ross. The brand was founded originally as a project between Bruno Belamich and Carlos A. Rosillo in 1992, and it has since gone on to become the official watch supplier of the French space program. Bell & Ross will be showcasing its newest timepieces in Las Vegas. Other popular watch brands showing at COUTURE are Grand Seiko, Accutron, Gucci, G-Shock, Frederique Constant, Vulcain, Zodiac, and Reservoir to name just a few. Oris watches, out of Hölstein, Switzerland, will also be showcasing their wares, and they'll bring their delightful "Oris Bear" with them. (If you know, you know.) But watches will not just be showing up at COUTURE. There will be plenty of vintage watches on hand at the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show, also showing at the Wynn, and also between the 24th and the 26th of August. And let us not forget that JCK will have plenty of watch brands exhibit- ing at their fair, as well, with brands like Philip Stein and Festina. Also appearing at JCK will be folks from the American Watch- makers and Clockmakers Institute (AWCI), who are brilliant at what they do and patient with those who have questions about watchmaking or would like to take watchmaking classes. At the end of the day, the fact remains that this year's Vegas jewelry and watch week is not going to resemble the ones of the past, but the reality is, we, as an industry, are anxious to get back to as much normalcy as we're able.
