page 2 She would help one person only to have three more people reach out, and with each request the projects grew larger and became more exciting. It wasn't until she took on a pivotal project to gut an existing home that she really began to encounter logistics challenges on a larger scale within the industry in terms of sourcing unique pieces for each client. "I saw other designers who had built a business like me struggling with the same obstacles and started brainstorming about solutions," she said. "My husband and I started talking about creating a website with all the best designer brands in one place and what that would potentially do for designers and consumers alike." In 2013, with two young boys at home, they dreamed big and used their savings to build the website for Scout & Nimble. They launched the business, just the two of them, in 2014. Fast forward to 2021, Scout & Nimble has become a multi-million-dollar national brand, and they have a team of 23 internal employees and 10 additional contractors who work across the world. "We took a leap of faith to launch the e-commerce site and go into business together when our kids were so young. Having him join me in the business was transformational and reminded me of just how good a team were are together," she shared. "We work hard at keeping an even balance of shared responsibilities at work and at home. I'm so proud that my boys get to see that example from their mom and dad. My boys are the greatest gifts, and I'm thankful that I get to share my life with them and have my husband at my side." Jesse is understandably proud of her family and grateful that she's been able to share her talent and joy of interior design with her other family—her Tri Delta sisters. She was able to give back to Delta Xi's A Fresh Look for 901 campaign by serving as the interior project designer, working closely alongside the campaign committee to make the new Chapter House beautiful and inviting. "One step in and I was transported back to the memories and moments that I had when I lived in the house. It was so nostalgic for me. I knew what an impact the house had on my life and wanted to be a part of creating those special memories for all the current women and future Tri Delta members," she stated. "I truly believe that your surroundings play such an important role in your happiness, well-being, and mental health. I wanted to create that space for them, and I knew with our donation, it would allow the budget to be stretched further and impact more areas of the house." When reflecting on her time as an undergraduate, she fully realizes the impact the house had on her in her life and the importance of the memories created there with her Tri Delta sisters. "When I think back on my time there, knowing that our alumnae were making improvements, donating their time, and giving so graciously so we could have a better experience is a little mind blowing," she explained. "I want to be able to do the same. It really does come full circle. It feels good to know that we are making a difference at the house and in the lives of the women who pass through it." Jesse and her husband, Sam, live in Columbia, with their sons, Henry (13) and Oliver (11).
