ALWAYS ALPHA PHI O M I C R O N C H A P T E R O F A L P H A P H I WHAT MAKES A HOUSE, A HOME? OMICRON ANNOUNCES $1.5 MILLION CAPITAL CAMPAIGN Almost 4,000 of Mizzou's finest young women have become Alpha Phi sisters since Omicron's founding in 1910, and we're thankful you are one of them. "Friendships formed in the springtime of our youth" created unforgettable memories shared in a white house on Providence Road. There, we learned the meaning of sisterhood. Alpha Phi built the first sorority house in America at Syracuse University in 1886. But did you know that more than 70 years ago, Omicron alumnae stepped up and rebuilt our own chapter house to accommodate the growing needs of the chapter? THE FUTURE OF OMICRON Today, with more than 250 collegiate members, Omicron has reached that point once again. For the past two decades, chapter meetings and Initiation have been held in rented spaces; our aging facility has ceased to provide sufficient space to serve the chapter's needs. At the same time, nearly every other sorority on campus has rebuilt or significantly renovated their chapter houses to overcome similar challenges. To build upon our robust recruiting strength, your House Corporation Board has spent the last several years planning for Omicron's ongoing housing needs. With the 2019 acquisition of an adjacent lot, the opportunity to expand Alpha Phi's footprint became a reality. We are now proud to announce the Sisterhood Begins at Home campaign to build a new chapter house for the next generation of Omicron sisters. Alpha Phi's new home will feature a modern floor plan where more than 80 sisters will live together. The new chapter house will include an enlarged dining S U M M E R 2 0 2 1 hall, expanded study space, and enough seating for the entire chapter to attend weekly meetings together—all providing an updated and refreshed version of the familiar "white house on Providence" look. The design of the rebuild intentionally reflects the architecture of the current house we all love. As of this writing, 104 generous alumnae have already committed more than $901,260 to this project. It is these early pledges that give us confidence that, with your support, Omicron can reach its fundraising goal of $1.5 million. What makes a house like this, a home? The safety and security of a group of women that goes far beyond friendship…Sisters who are there for moments grand and small, joyous or poignant; memories that last over the years, because you shared so much, together. Think back to remember those moments that shaped your own journey. The house that became your home, and the women there who became your forever sisters. Sisterhood begins at home—a new home in a familiar place on Providence Road. There are many options for giving to this very special campaign. Please know you will be part of the most important endeavor in Omicron's history. The need is real. The time is now.
