2 APPROACHING OUR NEW NORMAL Brothers Excel in Recruitment and Campus Leadership A s I'm sure you can imagine, this academic year was full of surprises and challenges for us. We constantly adapted to new methods of doing things academically and socially. I could not be prouder of the men of Alpha- Phi Zeta; they handled themselves well and consistently did what was required of them to ensure alignment with ever-changing University and state policies. As this semester ends, there is not just news to report, but good news! This spring, we initiated 30 men who were recruited last summer. They are a great group and we look forward to seeing their development within and outside the Chapter. As we welcomed new men this semester, we also said farewell to an impactful senior class. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors, whether in the workforce, the military, or in pursuit of higher education. This semester, our undergraduate brothers were involved in many areas across campus. To highlight a few, I was tapped into the 108th class of the Jason's Senior Men's Honorary; Michael Blotto, ΑΦ1938 was elected to the Interfraternity Council executive committee; Hunter Patterson, ΑΦ1939 is on the executive board of the UA chapter of Ducks Unlimited; and Sawyer Griffy, ΑΦ1969 is a member of the 14th cohort of the University Fellows Experience. We are excited for Saturdays this fall, as Bryant-Denny Stadium is slated to be at 100% capacity again. We look forward to resuming tailgates at the Chapter House on game day and hope to see many of you stop by before games. In other news, the House Corporation is funding brand-new floors for all the hallways and bedrooms upstairs, purchasing a new basketball goal for the courtyard, and buying some new furniture for the Tube Room. I would also like to extend my personal thanks to the House Corporation for the support and guidance they have given the Chapter through the uncertainty of the last year. I believe our Chapter is in a great place heading into the fall, and I look forward to my second semester serving as High Alpha. Recruitment is now underway for the fall 2021 semester! I urge anyone who knows any potential new members to contact our recruitment chairman, Liam Smith, ΑΦ1942, at (609) 240-6400 or lcsmith18@crimson.ua.edu. Roll Tide!
